Vol. 3... Life and Times of S. Carter responsible for the mive decline of hip-hop in the 21st Century?

In 1999, hip-hop was in deep trouble. The music was getting dumber and more and more MCs decided that trading their artistic integrity for platinum plaques and concerts filled with musically untalented preteens was a better choice. This mentality started the revolution of completely talentless rappers to have mive success (Ja Rule, Nelly, Mase) and for respected rappers to sell out to push more units (Method Man, Nas, EPMD). Jay-Z was part of the problem. In '99, as far as he and his label was concerned, the clic Reasonable Doubt was a failure, so **** that album. Life and Times of S. Carter was not all that different from the last two preceding albums, so why is this worse? Jay spends a good portion of this album talking **** to women. I don't like a misogynistic Jay-Z. Listen to "It's Hot" and you'll see what I'm talking about. I don't need to discuss Hov's alogical lyrics, but even his MCing is lackluster. His rhyming skills didn't deteriorate, but his voice is so emotionless and robotic. He clearly does not give a **** because he knows that this will go platinum. Jay-Z, if I wanted to hear monotonous lyrics delivered in a way that makes me think you're falling asleep on the mic, I'd listen to a Mobb Deep album okay?! The beats aren't bad, but they're still mainstream. There are a couple of good songs, but on a 15 track album, that's not impressive. Needless to say, this is Jay-Z's worst album. He disliked Blueprint 2, but Life and Times of S. Carter makes that look like some **** from A Tribe Called Quest. I recommend to anyone that likes the bullshit "rap" of the 21st Century. To sum things up, for all the people that hate Jay-Z, this album is the reason. Jay would make up for this bullshit with The Blueprint, but the damage has already been done. Jay-Z, with others, are (especially 2006). This album, with Nastradamus, Country Grammar, etc. were the fathers of "Shoulder Lean", "Snap Yo Fingers", and dare I say it......."Laffy Taffy"
