Difference between plaque and oral thrush?

Hey, i got my tongue pierced about a week ago and there is lots of white on my tongue and it's hard to get off when i brush it. now how can i tell if it's oral thrush or just plaque stuff? how would i be able to tell and what are symptoms of the start of thrush?
